CHURCH COVENANT

Having, as we trust, been brought by divine grace to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and to give up ourselves to Him, and having been baptized upon our profession of faith, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, relying on His gracious aid, solemnly and joyfully renew our covenant with each other:

  • We will work and pray for the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. (Eph. 4:1-3, Rom. 14:19)

  • We will walk together in brotherly love, as members of Christ’s Church. (John 13:34-35, 1 Peter 1:22, Eph. 5:1-2)

  • We will exercise an affectionate care and watchfulness over each other, encouraging and faithfully admonishing one another as occasion may require. We will support and submit to the leaders of our church as they watch over our souls. (Heb. 3:13-14, 10:24-25, 13:17, Rom. 15:14, Matt. 18:15-18)

  • We will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, nor neglect to pray for ourselves and others. (Heb. 10:25, 1 Cor. 5:4, Eph. 6:18-20, James 5:16)

  • We will endeavor to bring up all those under our care in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and seek to proclaim and adorn the gospel of Christ before our family, friends, and neighbors. (Eph. 6:4, Dt. 6:4-7, Titus 2:1-10, Rom. 1:16-17)

  • We will rejoice at each others’ happiness and endeavor with tenderness and sympathy to bear each others’ burdens and sorrows. (Rom. 12:15, Gal. 6:2)

  • We will seek, by God’s grace, to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, and live self-controlled, godly, and upright lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. (Titus 2:11-14)

  • We will work together to maintain a faithful gospel ministry in this church, as we sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines. We will contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the care of our members, and the spread of the gospel to all nations. (Matt. 28:18-20, Phil. 1:27, 4:15, Rom. 12:13)

  • We will, if we move from this place, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all (2 Cor. 13:14). Amen.
